Out-of-contract Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna is set for talks with Manchester City after Saturday’s FA Cup final Win over Hull, the Daily Mail are reporting.
The 31-year-old looks to be on his way out of the Emirates Stadium on a free transfer and the Premier League champions are ready to pounce, with doubts surrounding the future of defender Micah Richards.
Sagna has been chasing a £100,000-per-week deal with the Gunners, who are reluctant to offer long-term contracts to players over the age of 30.
But City are willing to match the Frenchman’s demands and are believed to be offering him the security of a four-year deal.
The former Auxerre man has been with the North Londoners since 2007 and lifted his first silverware with the club in his final outing, at Wembley on Saturday.
Sagna wants to have his future sorted ahead of the World Cup finals next month and will begin talks with the Citizens immediately.
The right-back has made nearly 300 appearances for the Gunners and would join former team-mates Emmanuel Adebayor, Gael Clichy, Samir Nasri and Kolo Toure in making the switch to the Etihad Stadium.
Losing Sagna would leave Carl Jenkinson as Arsenal’s only like-for-like replacement and they’ve recently been linked with moves for Ligue 1 pair Serge Aurier and Aissa Mandi.
