Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly told Tottenham Hotspur officials that he wants £3m a year to take over from the departed Tim Sherwood at White Hart Lane.
Pochettino, currently in charge at St Mary’s, is one of the forerunners for the Spurs job alongside Ajax boss Frank de Boer.
The Argentine manager has won praise this season for leading Southampton to 8th place in the Premier League, and for doing it whilst playing attractive football.
The Sun have reported that Pochettino has demanded £3m a year to take the hotseat at White Hart Lane, and wants assistant manager Jesus Perez, coach Miguel D’Agostino and goalkeeping coach Toni Jiminez to make the switch with him.
Reports have also suggested that should he take over the reins at Spurs, he would attempt to hijack Liverpool’s move for Adam Lallana. Lallana is Southampton captain under Pochettino and could choose to join his current manager and coaches rather than move to a completely new environment.
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will want to make completely sure that he hires the right man to take over from the recently departed Sherwood as the recent turnover rate of managers at White Hart Lane has prompted some fans to start looking further up the hierarchy as they look for someone to blame.
