One of Southampton’s leading light’s in their Premier League campaign this season, Morgan Schneiderlin, is now set to become the subject of increased interest from both home and abroad with clubs taking notice of the Frenchman’s impressive performances for The Saints this season.
The Metro have reported that Arsenal and Italian side Napoli are set to battle for the 24-year-old’s signature, and Southampton may have a fight on their hands to keep their French star at the club for much longer.
Arsenal have been long admirers of Schneiderlin, with the club having followed the Frenchman’s progress at Southampton for some time now.
But if Arsenal are to get the upper hand in this ongoing transfer battle, they will have to act fast, with Rafa Benitez’s Napoli said to be looking into the possibility of making a bid for the player following the Italian side’s qualification for next season’s Champions League.
Jose Fonte, a fellow teammate of Morgan Schneiderlin, has suggested that the fate of Southampton’s star players including the Frenchman, is in the hands of others. The Portuguese defender went on to say that Mauricio Pochettino’s own Southampton future will go a long way to deciding the future of the club’s most important players.
