Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has turned his attention to signing Frank Lampard to a new contract after signing club captain John Terry to a new deal yesterday.
Chelsea stalwarts John Terry, Frank Lampard, and Ashley Cole were all set to be out of contract this summer and it is believed that Jose Mourinho is keen to keep all three on at the Bridge for another season.
The club made quick work to end speculation over their captain’s future as they tied down the centre-half to a new 12-month deal yesterday.
Chelsea have been busy from the get go following the end of the season, with the club reportedly agreeing a fee of £32m for Diego Costa and are set to offload David Luiz in a £32m exchange with Barcelona. It appears Mourinho means business as he looks to improve upon a season in which he didn’t win any silverware.
The Mail believes signing Lampard to a new deal will be his next order of business as he now enters the last six weeks of his deal. However, Cole’s future at Stamford Bridge remains in doubt, as the left-back played a bit-part role this past season and may be keen to listen to the wealth of offers for his services, in search of more regular first team football.
