Ryan Giggs has been offered a chance to be the new assistant manager at Manchester United, according to ESPN.
Giggs was the interim manager of the club for the final four games of the season after United sacked manager David Moyes, but it appears that Dutch coach Louis van Gaal will be the man to take the manager’s post permanently after his commitments to his country have ceased following this summer’s World Cup.
Giggs reportedly met van Gaal in Holland on Wednesday to discuss the future plans for the club and to decide his own future, and the word coming from the meeting is that van Gaal has offered Giggs the opportunity to be his number two.
The 40-year-old Welshman was pictured outside the Hotel Oranje in Holland after the meeting, with van Gaal having time away from Holland’s World Cup training camp in Hoenderloo on Wednesday.
Dutch manager van Gaal is still not confirmed as Manchester United manager, but it is thought that he will be formally announced as United’s next boss at some point this week. Should that happen, it looks as though Giggs will have the opportunity to be his right hand man and work directly alongside the former Ajax, Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach.
