It seems Jose Mourinho is making great strides with his pursuit of Atleticó Madrid star Diego Costa as Chelsea look set to sign the striker in the summer.
According to reports in Metro and the Daily Mail, Chelsea have reached an agreement with Atleticó Madrid over Diego Costa as they are willing to meet the £32 million buy-out clause and will announce the transfer at the end of the season.
The 25-year-old has been phenomenal this season as he has scored 36 goals and contributed four assists in 46 appearances in all competitions.
The Spanish international also managed to score against Chelsea in the Champions League Stamford Bridge on a penalty which helped Atleticó Madrid advance to the final.
With former strike partner Radamel Falcao leaving for AS Monaco this past summer, Costa has risen to prominence as he has emerged as one of the greatest strikers in the world in his current form.
One thing that can be helpful in securing Costa’s signature is that José Mourinho’s agent, Jorge Mendes, also represents Diego Costa as well.
If Chelsea do acquire Costa, it would be very beneficial for them as many would argue that their strikers have been their weakest link of late. Chelsea’s trio of strikers have struggled to consistently find form this season and Mourinho has previously stated that he is looking to boost his attack.
Diego Costa is a definite purchase for Chelsea, and a player that will surely deliver in the Premier League.
