Having recently put pen to paper on a new £24 million three-year deal, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is targeting three world class signings this summer in a bid to be the dominant force in English football once again.
According to a report in The Daily Mail, Wenger will be in the market for a new right-back, centre-midfielder and striker when the transfer window reopens in the summer.
FC Porto’s Jackson Martinez, Manchester City’s Edin Dzeko, Bayern Munich’s Mario Mandzukic and Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa are the strikers on the Frenchman’s wanted list.
Borussia Dortmund’s Lukasz Piszczek is the right-back that Wenger is reportedly keen on, and the report suggests the Gunners are likely to return to Schalke with an improved offer for their highly-rated attacker, Julian Draxler – having failed to sign him in last month’s window.
Arsenal are currently sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League and many believe they are now favourites for this season’s title. The league’s longest-serving manager hasn’t won a trophy since the 2005 FA Cup, but winning this year’s title would be the perfect way to end the trophy-drought at the Emirates.
If Wenger can strengthen his current squad with the addition of three world class signings this summer – the Gunners will be a force to be reckoned with both domestically and in Europe next season.
