According to reports in the Metro, Arsenal’s new shirt sponsors Puma are interested in supplying funds to the Gunners in a bid to acquire the services of former Manchester City and current AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli.
With Arsenal’s current lack of world-class strikers, Arsène Wenger may pull out all the stops in a bid to convince the Italian international to join the Emirates Stadium in the summer with Puma interested in contributing as much as £15 million to the transfer.
With the funds that Arsène Wenger has at his disposal, it is a surprise that Wenger has so far failed in his quest for a top scoring striker, as he didn’t secure any top-class strikers in both the January and summer transfer market.
The Italian will not come cheap for Arsène Wenger’s side however, with AC Milan valuing the player at around the £40 million mark. It may then come down to Balotelli himself to decide if his future lies in Serie A with AC Milan or if he prefers a move back to the Premier League with Arsenal.
The Italian international would be a fantastic addition to an already world-class side and with the current form he is in for both his club and country, he could well be the missing piece in the Arsenal jigsaw.
