Atletico Madrid forward Diego Costa is not interested in a move to Arsenal or Chelsea, according to the Spanish side’s director of football.
Costa has been one of the most lethal front-men in Europe this season. His class has not gone unnoticed as a number of potential suitors are taking note. He has netted 19 goals in 17 La Liga games this season. However, the Daily Mail claims Costa is not interested in a move away.
The director of football at the club, Jose Luis Caminero, said in an interview with Spanish news source Marca: ‘Right now Costa does not think of leaving, he is contracted to Atletico.
‘He has renewed with us which is important. He has shown that he wants to continue at this club.’
Costa was reportedly close to a move to Liverpool in the summer, with Luis Suarez’s future up in the air. However, the Brazilian never opted for a move to the Merseyside club and instead signed a new contract at the Vicente Calderon.
With Radamel Falcao now plying his trade in the south of France, Atletico’s hopes of winning the La Liga rest firmly on the shoulders of Costa, who has opted to represent Spain rather than his native Brazil.
